It measures hetero- and homosexuality from 0 to 6, with 0 being exclusively heterosexual and 6 being exclusively homosexual. Kinsey also developed a continuum known as the Kinsey scale that is still commonly used today to categorize an individual’s sexual orientation (Jenkins, 2010). The scale shows that it is possible to be between sexual orientations, and that very few people are only one sexual orientation. The Erotic Response and Orientation Scale was developed by psychologist Michael Storms in order to account for problems with the Kinsey Scale Test, which many found to be overly binary in its approach to sexual orientation.
